Reliability Engineer,Oman


We are looking for a reliability engineer to work with a leading owner-operator in Oman.
The Machinery Reliability Engineer will oversee the performance and reliability on rotating equipment and high-impact systems including gas engines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and pumps, fin-fans and blowers, and associated non-mechanical systems.
The reliability engineer shall be well versed in all aspects of plant maintenance and reliability such that to develop, coordinate and assess maintenance improvement programs, processes and systems. The engineer must be experienced in current and classical maintenance/reliability programs such as total productive maintenance, and reliability cantered maintenance, and be able to develop the reliability block diagram for the facility and use it to assess the reliability of equipment and systems.
The engineer should be able to determine how to improve the reliability of concerned systems through system re-design or appropriate system monitoring technology, as well as utilize and make decisions based on condition monitoring systems such as vibration, oil condition and ultrasound analyses.
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Plan and provide work direction for preparation of designs, processes and reports, and ensure efficiency, adequacy and conformance to overall plant reliability objectives.
  • Formulate and challenge the economic basis for engineering studies by analysing and evaluating all data pertaining to problems.
  • Continuously assess and improve the reliability of equipment, systems and processing trains.
  • Evaluate the criticality assessment for assets and modify the maintenance strategy accordingly.
  • Utilize condition monitoring systems to proactively assess and predict equipment failure.
  • Coordinate and resolve problems and concerns with all stake holders.
  • Coach and mentor young professionals and technicians, and review their work and guide for quality deliverables.
  • Review and develop scope and description of technology items, and lead the implementation and operation of developed solutions in the field to meet standard/performance requirements.
  • Lead change in reliability processes and assess associated risks in accordance with the company's systems.
  • Facilitate proactive reliability engineering analyses in accordance with established processes.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties related to the area of expertise as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or instrumentation engineering from an accredited institution.
The academic credential must be coupled with a minimum of ten years of work experience in the maintenance and reliability field at oil and gas facilities, and related engineering practices and international standards. Five years of working knowledge of probability/statistics principles, computerized maintenance management systems and notable reliability engineering tools are required.
Fluent in written and spoken English
Ability to demonstrate process management and improvement, project planning, mentorship and leadership.
