Pre-Commissioning Engineer

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is hiring a Pre-Commissioning Engineer to engage in the coordination, monitoring and overseeing the planning, preparation and execution of EPC Contractor pre-commissioning activities, in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
Reporting to a Project Pre-Commissioning Coordinator you will be accountable for the technical governance of pre-commissioning activities on the project. 

  • Coordinate pre-commissioning activities with EPC Contractor and ensure they are performed in compliance with Project procedures and work instructions
  • Assist and coordinate with client to prepare the pre-commissioning plan, overall management plan and turnover documentation
  • Review and monitor EPC Contractor resources that are required to support pre-commissioning activities
  • Ensure all applicable pre-commissioning procedures and work instructions are properly communicated to the EPC Construction and Pre-Commissioning Teams and liaise with the respective members of the Client Commissioning Team
  • Deliver Pre-commissioning process presentation material to a variety of interested Stakeholders
  • Assist in the production and delivery of training material for the various packages and systems 
  • Support client in the take-over of equipment and systems for commissioning, following the successful mechanical completion and subsequent pre-commissioning activities
  • Ensure that all pre-commissioning activities are performed in accordance with the agreed procedures and in a safe and expedient manner
  • Ensure that reports or deficiency lists (punch list) on any defects are prepared
  • Provide pre-commissioning reports to the Pre-Commissioning Manager. The reports will review past progress, current work, development of future plans and compare actual progress with planned progress
  • Update and assess the Pre-Commissioning KPI’s of EPC Contractors
  • Verify system installation and acceptability for initial operation
  • Coordinate equipment and system acceptance and handover and ensure the documentation for area or system / sub-system is completed, comprehensive and correctly entered into the completions database
  • Assist client in performance testing and start-up work activities

Skills / Qualifications

  • BSc. in Engineering (University degree) i.e. Chemical, Process or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 years’ industrial experience in Oil and Gas related projects
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Worked on projects with value more than $500M
  • Strong Supervisory and Coordination experience
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
