Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has awarded WorleyParsons a Project Management Contract (PMC) for the Bapco Modernization Program. This five-year program is designed to optimize the refinery configuration that would place Bapco amongst the most competitive and profitable refineries in the Middle East beyond 2020. It is envisaged a total refinery throughput of 360,000 barrels per day and includes nine (9) new units being integrated with fourteen (14) existing units. As the PMC contractor, WorleyParsons will assist Bapco to primarily manage, monitor and appraise the activities of the Front End Engineering Design contractor, Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors, and other contractors engaged to execute the work.
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with Hydroprocessing experience to join be based in Rome for 12-18 months for this challenging project.
Job Purpose
The Process Engineer will coordinate process engineering work to meet the objectives of the project. The Process Engineer will ensure that all EPC Contractor work is carried out in accordance with applicable codes and standards within the boundaries of the project basis of design.
Key Result Areas
Monitor the progress of process engineering design deliverables
Undertake Process engineering work in any Project to the best of one’s ability
Search out and clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work prior to the work being carried out and raise deviations where necessary
Ensure all process engineering work is checked and approved
Supervision of Process design work, budget and schedule in Project work as and when requested
Apply good interpersonal skills, liaising across the organisation with members of other disciplines and departments.
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.
Safety – Responsible for personal safety and working within the OHS&W procedures.
Monitor and oversee EPC Contractor’s process engineering activities to confirm:
Ensure process engineering equipment philosophies, procedures and specifications cater for the required operating and design envelope.
EPC Contractor design documentation status, to ensure works are to schedule and to desired quality.
Ensure open channels of communication with EPC contractor, and all relevant PMC subject matter experts.
Have detailed understanding and appreciation of the work scope.
Review design with knowledge of the engineering design sequence, and discipline interaction.
Able to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions through project systems.
Monitor EPC Contractor process engineering detailed design progress and keep Engineering Manager informed as to status.
Assist team in timely completion of process engineering scope and activities.
Ensuring quality assurance of deliverables through an established audit trail
Provide definition of the process engineering scope of work to the Engineering Manager for handover at start of project phase.
Provide technical assistance to EPC Contractor when required.
Review all EPC Contractor design documents for compliance with Employer requirements and expectations, project codes, standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Participate in relevant EPC Contractor design/safety reviews e.g. Value Engineering, P&ID reviews, HazOps etc.
Provide prompt responses to actions from EPC Contractor design/safety reviews or other contractor queries.
Ensure timely response to, and implementation of, actions from design/safety reviews.
Assist in review of process engineering equipment related variation orders change orders and deviation requests.
Attend major equipment pre-inspection meetings as required.
Prompt reporting of all known design changes to the Engineering Manager in relation to project execution; perform any other duties as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
Ensure that the EPC Contractor deliverables are checked against the documents finalised preceding each project phase. This is to ensure that all mechanical static equipment design and engineering aspects are efficiently transferred from one project phase to the next.
Assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring that at end of project all EPC Contractor mechanical Static equipment design data and deliverables have been completed as per Employer specifications and standards, and to ensure orderly data handover, project close-out and archiving in accordance with Employer requirements
