General Superintendent - MAA

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a degree qualified General Superintendent with extensive oil and gas or petrochemical experience to supervise and coordinate the activities during shutdowns on site.

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) is implementing a major project, the Clean Fuel Project (CFP) which comprises the upgrade of two existing refineries. The Clean Fuels Project is a major upgrade and expansion of the existing Mina Al-Ahmadi (MAA) and Mina Abdullah (MAB) refineries. The objective is to increase the overall throughput by 264,000 bpsd to 800,000 bpsd and to increase conversion of fuel oil to higher value products to meet expected market demand and specs for low Sulphur content transport fuels. The overall project value is approximately 14-15 billion US dollars. KNPC have awarded the Clean Fuels Project to multiple EPC contractors. 

  • Review the required site organization with construction management and confirm assignee requirements
  • Organize, administer and control construction in accordance with Company and Client requirements as the Company's representative in the field
  • Be familiar with the contract requirements, policies and procedures
  • Provide effective communication between the construction site and the home office
  • Participate in local labor employment agreements, where applicable
  • Promote health and safety and ensure OHSA Act is strictly adhered to
  • Promote FWSA by demonstrating professionalism and efficiency and advise the Company of future business opportunities
  • Ensure that the Wood Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policy is implemented and understood by all supervised staff
  • Responsible for all QA / QC and related quality activities to ensure conformance to specifications and standards

Skills / Qualifications

  • Graduate of BSc Engineering Degree
  • 20 years of industrial experience and at least 5 years in similar role
  • With experience in PMC / EPC organizations in the field of refinery / petrochemical industries handling major projects of value not less than US$500 million each
